This year we will be making a donation of equipment to establish a neuro intensive care unit at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
We hope that you will thoroughly enjoy our Ball and Cricket games, including the atmosphere surrounding the occasion and partake in the many Barbadian delicacies on offer. Please continue to give generously to those less fortunate than ourselves.
PROCEEDS
This year’s proceeds will be going towards the purchase of equipment for a Neuro Surgical Intensive Care Unit at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Barbados.

The Neuro Surgical Intensive Care Unit will be of utmost importance to Barbados due to the increased cases of neurological diseases being reported.
BCO CHARITY WEEKEND 2006
Dinner & Dance
The Barbados Cultural Organisation (BCO) Charity Weekend started with their 7th Anniversary Fundraising Dinner & Dance, held at the Holiday Inn, Coram Street, WC1 1HT, on Saturday 22 June, 2006.
Barbados High Commissioner, Mr Edwin Pollard & Mrs Pollard, Deputy High Commissioner, Mr Herbie Yearwood & Mrs Yearwood, Sir Garfield Sobers and former Barbados and West Indies professional Joel “Big Bird” Garner were among the specially invited guests.
Chairman of the BCO, Mr Cedric Lynch, thanked everyone for making the event so successful, and in particular, the committee for their hard work and dedication. He also reminded the guests about the fund day at Uxbridge Cricket Club, urged them to come out and support this event, tell their friends and look forward to seeing them turn up in numbers.
The evening’s entertainment was provided by Saxophonist Justin “C”, while Stacia Burrows had the guests in stitches with her own brand of bajan humour. Music was supplied by DJ Martin “J” of Choice FM, who ensured that guests were always on the dance floor, with a mixture of his sweet sounds.

UXBRIDGE CRICKET CLUB
Fun Day
The BCO Charity weekend of events moved to Uxbridge Cricket Club for the final phase.
Barbadians in particular, other Caribbean nationals, friends and families alike look forward to this annual event.
An estimated crowd in excess of 4,000 turned up at Uxbridge Cricket Club to party, and so they did. The weather was simply beautiful, the sun shone throughout the day, it was perfect for cricket and ideal for a picnic atmosphere. This large crowd did not disappoint, they responded to everything that was laid on; cricket, entertainment etc. It was truly a fantastic atmosphere, a variety of stalls, tents, a bouncing castle and an array of colourful picnic blankets strewn around the ground. Everyone seemed to enjoy the day out while a number of people were heard saying “they wished something like this could happen more than once-a-year”.
Entertainment for the day was provided by a stilts man who kept the crowd in awe at his antics, the beautiful dancing girls, and the music was supplied by DJ Martin “J” of Choice FM.
Chairman of the BCO, Mr Cedric Lynch and the committee should be applauded for the work they put in to make this occasion so successful and memorable. Also the security and support staff that did a fantastic job to ensure a trouble free event was the order of the day.
GAME TIED
Two 20/20 cricket matches were played during the day. The first game involved the Barbados High Commission X1 against a (Barbados) Christ Church X1. However,
the main attraction was the 20/20 game between a select BCO X1 and Australia House X1.
The BCO X1 comprised a mixture of ex-Barbados players and young West Indian hopefuls who are currently plying their trade in the English leagues.
Joel “Big Bird” Garner, Hartley Alleyne, young fast bowlers *Javon Searles and Corey Yearwood, also Chioke Payne were among the star attractions.
The game provided plenty of excitement for the spectators as it ebbed and flowed to the end. Both teams recorded the same score and the game was declared “tied” by the umpires. What a fitting finish.
